The Complete Google Business Profile Checklist for Tampa, FL Business Owners

If you’ve already read our guide on how to optimize your Google Business Profile in Tampa, you know why each section matters in a Google Business Profile. This post is the companion to that one: a field-by-field checklist you can work through right now to make sure your profile is actually complete, accurate, and set up to perform.

Pull up your GBP and work through each section below. Check off what’s done and note what needs attention.

Business Information

[  ] Business name matches exactly how it appears on your website, signage, and all other listings. No extra keywords stuffed in. (Google doesn’t let you keyword stuff here)

[  ] Address is correct and formatted consistently with how it appears everywhere else online. If you’re service-area only, your address is hidden, and your service area is clearly defined, not just the main city.

[  ] Phone number is current and goes to a line someone actually answers.

[  ] Website URL is linked and goes to the right page, not a broken link or an outdated domain. (We recommend your root domain, not a specific page, unless you are running multiple GBP)

[  ] Business hours are accurate, including any special holiday hours. If your hours have changed recently, update them now.

[  ] Business category is as specific as possible. “Marketing Agency” rather than just “Business.” Add secondary categories for any additional services you offer.

Business Description

[  ] Your description is written (not left blank).

[  ] It clearly explains what your business does, who you serve, and where you’re located in Tampa.

[  ] It includes keywords your customers actually search for, written naturally, not crammed in awkwardly.

[  ] It’s under 750 characters.

[  ] It reflects your current services, not what you offered when you first set up the profile.

A strong description helps both Google and AI tools understand and recommend your business. This is one of the most underused fields on the entire profile.

Photos and Videos

[  ] You have a profile photo that clearly represents your brand (logo or storefront).

[  ] You have a cover photo that’s high quality and current.

[  ] You’ve added photos of your team, your location, your work, or your products.

[  ] Photos were added within the last two months. A profile with only old photos reads as inactive.

[  ] You’ve added a video showcasing your business or services.

Profiles with photos consistently get more clicks and direction requests than those without. In Tampa’s competitive market, this is not the place to cut corners.

Products and Services

[  ] If your business type allows it, your Services or Products section is filled in.

[  ] Each service or product has its own name and a description that includes relevant keywords.

[  ] Price ranges are included where applicable.

[  ] The list reflects your current offerings, not outdated or discontinued services.

This section gives Google additional, specific content to match your business to relevant searches beyond just your business name.

Google Posts

[  ] You’ve published at least one Google Post in the last 30 days.

[  ] Posts include a clear call to action (book, call, learn more).

[  ] You’re using Posts to share promotions, new services, recent work, or answers to common questions.

[  ] Posts include a photo where possible.

Most Tampa businesses never use Google Posts. Regular posting signals to Google that your profile is active and managed, which factors positively into local rankings.

Q&A Section

[  ] You’ve checked the Q&A section to see if anyone has asked questions about your business.

[  ] You’ve answered any unanswered questions.

[  ] You’ve proactively added your own FAQs with answers for things customers commonly ask.

Google allows anyone to ask and answer questions on your profile. If you’re not managing this section, someone else might be answering on your behalf, not always accurately.

Reviews

[  ] You have a system in place for asking satisfied customers to leave a Google review.

[  ] You’ve responded to every review you’ve received, positive and negative.

[  ] Your most recent reviews are from within the last 90 days. If not, it’s time to start asking again.

[  ] Your average rating is 4.0 or above. If not, read our post on how Google reviews are the key to growing your Tampa business for a practical strategy.

Reviews are one of the highest-impact things you can work on. They influence your local search ranking, your AI visibility, and whether someone chooses you over the business next to you in the results.

Attributes and Additional Info

[  ] You’ve filled in any applicable attributes (wheelchair accessible, women-owned, veteran-owned, outdoor seating, etc.).

[  ] Your business opening date is listed.

[  ] Any additional information fields relevant to your business type are complete.
